Bushbound Rentals (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us") rents out camping and overlanding equipment from Pretoria. This policy explains what personal information we collect from you, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.

We are committed to handling your information lawfully under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

The short version: we collect only what we need to rent you gear, get it to you, take payment, and get it back. We don't sell your information to anyone. We don't run advertising trackers on this site. You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete what we hold.

Under POPIA, every business has an Information Officer by default — for a small business that's usually the owner. You may register yours with the Information Regulator.

2. What we collect, and why

We never see or store your card details. When you pay, you are handed over to PayFast, a licensed South African payment provider. Your card number is entered on their systems, not ours. We only ever receive a reference number and the amount.

3. Who we share it with

We share your information only with the companies that make the service work:

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We will only disclose it otherwise if the law requires us to, or if we need to defend a legal claim.

Information sent outside South Africa

Netlify and Resend are based outside South Africa, so your information may be stored on servers overseas. POPIA allows this where the receiving country or the recipient offers a comparable level of protection. These providers operate under recognised data protection frameworks and are contractually bound to protect your information.

4. How long we keep it

5. Your rights

Under POPIA you have the right to:

Ask what we hold about you, and get a copy of it
Correct anything that's wrong or out of date
Ask us to delete it, where we're not legally required to keep it
Object to us processing it on the grounds of legitimate interest
Complain to the Information Regulator if you think we've mishandled it

6. Cookies and tracking

This website does not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or third-party analytics. We don't follow you around the internet. The only information stored in your browser is what's needed to keep your gear list in place while you're using the site, and it disappears when you close the tab.

7. Keeping it safe

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) throughout, our booking data is held behind password-protected access, and payment card details never touch our systems at all.

No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever occurred that put your information at real risk, POPIA requires us to notify both you and the Information Regulator — and we would.

8. Children

Our service is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we'll delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll email anyone with an active booking.
